Postdoctoral position - Cancer Metabolism - NTNU, Trondheim, Norway
POSTDOC in CANCER METABOLISM
A position as postdoctoral research fellow at the Dept. of Circulation and Medical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine, NTNU is now open. The postdoc will be part of the MR Cancer Group, a multidisciplinary group dedicated to research on how MR technology can improve diagnosis and therapy in cancer.
For more information about the research group; www.ntnu.edu/isb/mr-cancer
The period of employment is two years, with the objective of qualifying for higher academic positions.
The main goal of the project "Cancer metabolism: From basic biochemistry to clinical opportunities" is to increase our understanding of how abnormal metabolism supports the growth of cancer cells and how novel drugs targeting metabolic reactions can be used to treat cancer. The postdoc will work both in vitro and in vivo, studying metabolic plasticity in response to treatment with targeted drugs. Furthermore, the postdoc will contribute to studies of the association between metabolism and metastasis. If successful, the project will provide new basic knowledge on cancer metabolism, technological innovation in the form of preclinical proof-of-concept and new diagnostic tools based on abnormal metabolic features of cancer cells.
We seek a talented, enthusiastic and creative scientist with
- A PhD in Medicine or Molecular Biology (or similar)
- A strong academic track record
- Proficiency in oral and written English
- Practical and theoretical experience with NMR spectroscopy and/or MR imaging
- Documented hands-on experience with cancer cell culture as well as preclinical disease models.
